AIEEE vs IIT – Difference and Comparison

What is AIEEE?

The All India Engineering Examination Board (AIEEE) is a nationwide examination. The AIEEE test, which ran from 2002 to 2012, was designed to help students get into NITs and other non-IIT central government engineering, architecture, and planning schools. There is/was also a central government reservation in a number of institutions across India, both private and state government colleges, where all candidates were chosen using the AIEEE.

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was a test held by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (CBSE). This national level competitive test, which was introduced in 2002, is for getting admission under-graduate engineering and architecture degrees in institutes that recognise the AIEEE score, namely 30 (NITs) and 5 (IITs).

The exam was held on the final Sunday of April, and the results were released in the latter week of May or the first week of June. On an all-India and state-by-state basis, candidates were ranked. As a result, they have an AIR and a State Rank (SR).

In April 2013, the AIEEE examination was superseded by JEE, which was created to conduct engineering admission examinations and was administered by C.B.S.E till JEE(2018). From 2019 onwards, JEE will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Jee main is the same as AIEEE, and JEE advanced is identical to IIT JEE. So don’t get yourself mixed up in that. In terms of difficulty levels, the truth is that JEE Mains has a pattern of examination but AIEEE does not.

The AIEEE placed a greater emphasis on concepts and key elements in specific sections of the syllabus. Exam papers used to be based on a few selected topics, such as thermodynamics and electrodynamics, and numerous chapters were left out.

What is IIT?

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are a group of universities in India. They are regarded as the best engineering institutions in the nation. The management programmes at certain of the IITs are well-known. In India, there are 23 IITs, although only five are well-known. To gain admission to an IIT, one must pass the “JEE Advanced” exam, which is the world’s second most difficult exam. Students prepare for it for years.

Only 4000 students out of 1.5 million who take the exam each year are accepted into the prestigious IITs. The syllabus is massive, the rivalry is fierce, the stress is deadly, and the difficulty level is ridiculous. In IITs, only the best minds in the country are chosen. These students are known as IITians.

IITs operate independently, and their distinctive status as Institutes of National Importance supports their seamless operation, practically free of both regional and student politics. IITs can build their own curricula and adjust quickly to changing educational requirements due to their autonomy. The government has no direct influence over the IITs’ internal policy decisions (such as faculty recruitment and curricula), although it does have representation on the IIT Council.

Difference Between AIEEE and IIT

  1. AIEEE is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) while IIT is an association of autonomous engineering colleges and came into effect through an Act of Parliament.
  2. AIEEE is conducted for admission into various engineering courses including the NIT while IITs conduct a common entrance test IIT Jee for admission into IITs.
  3. AIEEE questions are comparatively easier to answer while IIT Jee questions are more complex.
  4. AIEEE stands for All India Engineering Entrance Examination while IIT stands for Indian Institute of Technology.
  5. AIEEE is an exam while IIT is an educational institution.
