BB vs CC Cream – Difference and Comparison

What is BB Cream?

BB is famously known as “blemish balm” or “beauty balm” in the areas of origin. It is a skincare product that is said to be a “one-step makeup and skincare in one.” It was developed by Dr. Christine Schrammek in Germany.

There are various types of BB creams for different skin types and skin tones. These creams tend to be multi-taskers, as they come with moisturizer, primer, and even sunblock incorporated into one product.

With its oil-free, matte formula, BB cream is perfect for those with oily skin. It evens out skin tone, conceals blemishes, and won’t clog pores. The cost is pocket-friendly.
It has a lightweight texture and can be worn with or without makeup, but it can also be used as a base for long-lasting makeup. When you’re short on time, blending a layer to correct your skin tone and texture will get you out the door fast with minimal time spent but still look great.

BB beauty products were the first to be produced in the series BB, CC, DD, and a recent one known as EE. Each variant in the series is an improvement on the previous one to give better skincare and ease of use.

What is CC Cream?

CC cream stands for “color correcting cream” and is used to correct skin tone and texture. CC creams are tinted, but they can also be tintless or sheer. CC creams are designed to have color-correcting properties as well as moisturizing ones.

They are tinted or sheer and contain ingredients like perfume, sunscreen, bronzers, and light-reflective pigments.

CC cream is a product that combines the benefits of BB cream and a foundation. It is lighter than a BB cream and has more coverage than a foundation.
CC creams are becoming increasingly popular in the market, with many brands releasing their own versions of this product. The CC creams are marketed as an all-in-one type product which can be used for different purposes such as moisturizing, concealing, and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays.

Some of the brands that are currently releasing CC creams and garnering a lot of attention in the market include Avon and Clinique. More brands are coming up to compete with them as these creams are becoming popular by the day.

Difference Between BB and CC Cream

BB creams are lighter than CC creams. They have a sheer to light coverage that is great for everyday use or as a base before applying makeup. BB cream is also suitable for most skin types, but it doesn’t provide the same level of coverage as CC cream does.

CC creams are a more concentrated version of BB creams. They contain higher levels of coverage and pigmentation and can be used for all skin types. CC creams are also able to conceal and correct skin imperfections such as dark spots, redness, acne scars, wrinkles, freckles, and age spots.
