Webpage vs Website – Difference and Comparison

What is a Webpage?

Webpages are documents, written in HTML, that is accessed through a web browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. They can be static, like a contact page on a website, or dynamic, like a news feed.

Webpages are created by web developers and designers. The code for a webpage is written in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). Webpages are accessed through a web browser. The browser translates the HTML code into a graphical representation that can be viewed on a monitor.

Webpages can be static or dynamic. Static web pages are those that don’t change. They are used for contact information or for pages that don’t need to be updated frequently. Dynamic webpages are those that can change. They are used for news feeds or for pages that need to be updated frequently. Webpages are hosted on a web server.

A web server is a computer storing files for a website. When you type in a web address, the web browser contacts the web server and requests the files for the webpage. The web server then sends the files to the web browser, which displays the webpage.

What is a Website?

A website is a group of web pages and associated content that is published on at least one web server and has been given a common domain name. A website may be accessed through a private local area network or a public Internet Protocol (IP) network like the Internet (LAN).

Websites can be used in many different ways and serve a variety of purposes; they can be personal, business-related, governmental, or non-profit organizations.

Websites are focused on a single subject or objective, ranging from social networking and entertainment to news and education. The World Wide Web is made up of all publicly accessible websites, whereas private websites, including those for a company’s employees, are a component of an intranet.

On some websites, accessing the material requires registration or membership. A web server, a computer system that houses websites and is linked to the Internet, is used to host websites. The web server software uses the domain name of the website to locate and serve the corresponding web pages to users who enter that domain name into their Internet browser.
