Active Voice vs Direct Speech – Difference and Comparison

What is Active Voice?

The form of the verb which shows the importance of its subject is known as the active voice. In other words, we can say that active voice is that a sentence has a subject that acts upon its verb, and here the subject is active. A sentence is in active voice if the subject is performing the action which gets indicated by the verb. In active voice, the tense remains the same.

It is formed by subject and verb and s/es and object. For example, Pintu does the action. The verb lays more pressure on him than on the action. Pintu, i.e., the subject has been shown to be active. What is Direct Speech?

Direct speech is a sentence where the precise words to be spoken get
reproduced in speech marks. In direct speech, we repeat or recite the exact words spoken by someone else. While writing, these quoted words are written inside inverted comas. For example
She asked, “When are you coming home?”
“There is a cockroach on my bed!” Ipsita screamed.
He said, “I won’t be returning to Silchar.”

Direct speech reveals the tone and state of mind of the characters. Direct speech allows the reader to interact with greater than mentioned speech, and it also allows exposing what a man or woman is virtually alike.

The importance of  indirect communication includes debates, quarrels, and specific times of the moment that provide excitement, tension, and laughter. In direct speech, present changes into past, past/future into a participle. For example, he said, “If I were a wit-chard”. Answer- he wished that  he were a wit-chard.

Difference Between Active Voice and Direct Speech
